MISSION STATEMENT and HISTORY

The Portland Now Prevention Partnership (PNPP) was formed in 2003 to respond to concerns about substance abuse among youth in the Portland neighborhood. PNPP is a committee of Portland Now, Inc., the neighborhood association serving the community with projects ranging from zoning enforcement to crime prevention to revitalization planning.  PNPP is a grassroots coalition meeting monthly to provide a forum for collaborative community planning and action related to youth substance abuse.  PNPP and Portland Now, Inc. work closely with each other and with other community partners on collaborative projects to advance the neighborhood.

The mission of the Portland Now Prevention Partnership (PNPP) is to prevent and reduce substance abuse by working with diverse residents and community partners to change social norms, advocate for positive changes in policies and practices, and reduce the availability of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, with a special focus on youth.
